At TAMEKO, fabric is not an afterthought, it is the beginning of everything. Our philosophy is rooted in a deep respect for how things are made, where they come from, and how they live in our daily lives. We believe in creating textiles that are not only beautiful, but meaningful – fabrics for life.​

The fabrics are the heart and soul of TAMEKO. This means our design and production process differs from other textile brands. We don’t design products and then pick materials. We do it the other way around. Taking a step back, we design and make our own fabrics – before turning them into beautiful products envisioned by award-winning design studios, such as Space Copenhagen.​

We want to move as far away from the poor quality, fast-paced trends, and general perception that textiles are something to buy cheap, use carelessly and throw away – as we can. We don’t believe the world needs just another textile brand – but we do believe it needs better ones.​

Craftsmanship

Every TAMEKO fabric begins in Karur, India, a region with a centuries-long legacy of textile artistry. Known for its deep-rooted weaving traditions, Karur has been home to generations of skilled craftspeople who pass their knowledge down like stories through hands, rhythm, and repetition. We are proud to collaborate with these artisans to develop fabrics that are not only finely made, but deeply human.​

Our approach to craftsmanship begins with a commitment to the fabric itself. We work closely with skilled artisans to develop fabrics that are tactile, honest, and enduring. Each textile is handwoven and hand-dyed using natural dyes, resulting in subtle irregularities that speak to the human hands behind each piece. The focus is always on quality and longevity – fabrics that elevate the everyday and age gracefully with time.

Letter from the founders

This is TAMEKO. TAMEKO is us. The result of a collaboration between two individuals, whose paths crossed in Copenhagen. Joined by our much adorned design talent, we are bringing fabrics to life. Fabrics for life.

TAMEKO's dream was first caught in 2021. And ever since that moment, we sleep, eat, and live with the fabrics we create. This journey took a while before we got here, but what a journey it was! Today, TAMEKO is officially born. And this is our first collection that we share with you.

We are thrilled to have you join us on this adventure from the very beginning. It feels truly special to introduce our fabrics to your life.

Sustainability

We believe that true sustainability goes beyond materials – it is a mindset that guides every decision. At TAMEKO, we choose natural fibres such as linen, cotton, and silk, not only for their beauty and feel, but for their ability to return to the earth. Our sourcing is responsible, and our production processes are carefully considered – continually evolving to reduce impact as we grow.​

Our textiles are independently certified by STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX, ensuring they are tested for harmful substances and safe for everyday use.
